As a studio Ghibli fan, I've always supported the English dubs of the films. Particularly, the Disney dubs, which recieve harsh critisism. Two years ago, they released the English dub of 'Ponyo On A Cliff By The Sea', renamed simply 'Ponyo'.

And I knew there was going to be problems when I heard the names Noah Cyrus and Frankie Jonas. Whilst the film's dub wasn't all bad, they, of course took the whimsicle little song from the end credit and gave it a pop remix. Or what I would better describe as 'a car crash of autotune'.

So when 'The Borrower Arrietty' was to be dubbed, it seems the UK film distributor, Optimum Releasing, has done their own UK dub(under the title 'Arrietty'). This, has come much to my relief as the leading characters in Disney's dub will be 2 of their tween cast from 'Wizards Of Waverly Place' and the film's name changed to 'The Secret World Of Arrietty'. Cecile Corbell who preformed the songs in the original Japanese dub also preformed the songs in English, which might put a halt to any plans to 'tweenify' the original songs...but this is Disney, so they might just go with it and to hell with real talented singers like Cecile.
